HOW WHOTSPOT WORKS

1. Concept

The Whotspot Concept is simple. For customers who want to create Internet Cafés or provide public access surfing areas known as WiFi Hotspots, Whotspot has taken all the guesswork out. We supply an end-to-end solution consisting of an intelligent Business-class WiFi gateway (router) and access points, backend server management, Radius AAA, subscriber management, credit card processing and Pre-paid SurfCards – similar to prepaid calling cards. With a Whotspot-enabled system in your venue, you can offer roaming customers, those with their own WiFi-enabled laptops, high speed internet access. For others, you can offer computers that you purchase from any PC vendor you like (we like Dell) and we’ll help you configure them to work through our gateway. Users are validated for access by entering a PIN code, by purchasing an account online with their favourite credit card or by entering a username and password. Whotspot processes the credit cards so you do not need your own merchant account. PIN codes are available on our pre-paid SurfCards, which we sell to you at a wholesale price and you resell them at whatever price your market will bear. There are also numerous branding options we can offer.

2. Where Whotspot Fits

Whotspot fits nicely in the middle.

1. Your ISP supplies the Internet connection to your location. You arrange this on your own. Any Cable, DSL or T1 connection with Static or Dynamic IP is sufficient.

2. Whotspot provides all the preconfigured equipment, manages the service, provides technical support, monitors the gateways, collect the payments, generates prepaid SurfCards, prepares reports and sends you the money.

3. Your Customers pay for internet access or just register at Free locations

4. You collect the money from Whotspot. You pay your ISP for the internet connection. You find or own-your-own locations and purchase new equipment and service plans from Whotspot.

Whotspot manages the whole system for you. You do not need any technical knowledge to install and operate the system. Each month, Whotspot provides you with a detailed sales report of all your online purchasers. If you had users paying for accounts online with their credit card, Whotspot performs the credit card clearing and remits a monthly check or electronic funds transfer of your net proceeds right to you. Of course if your users have only used prepaid SurfCards, you already have your money and no settlement is required.

Sounds too simple? It is. Whotspot only makes money if you make money. Our backend management and service fees and technical support come from your customers actually using the system. A portion of the costs of manufacturing the prepaid cards are allocated to us for that purpose. We charge for prepaid SurfCards and online surfing. As an example, if your customer pays $6 to Surf for 1 hour, Whotspot would typically charge you $1.00. You make 600% profit. If your customer pays $11.95 to surf for one day, Whotspot typically charges you $2. You make about 600% profit. If your customer pays $30 to surf for one month, Whotspot typically charges you $5.00. You make a whopping 650% profit!

3. What you buy from Whotspot

In the simplest case, all you need is one of our WiFi Gateways - a preconfigured router, connected to your existing Internet connection. You must arrange the internet connection on your own. We recommend calling your local Cable or DSL provider. Once you select the Gateway and any optional equipment you may need to support your location, you select a Whotspot Service Plan that best meets your needs. You pay for your equipment online with PayPal. This makes it easy for you to pay, and for us to transfer your monthly revenue to your PayPal account. Don’t have a PayPal account? WHOTSPOT will sell you a WiFi Gateway/Router. The wired portion of the Router allows hard-wired ethernet connections too. This is useful if you want to connect non-WiFi PC’s or Kiosks to your system. The WiFi portion of the router allows 50-100 simultaneous users to surf the net wirelessly from their WiFi- enabled devices. The Whotspot Gateway, connects through your Internet connection, to our servers. In this way, users are directed to your custom home page – which we design for you and is included in all our plans- where they receive instructions, view your content or advertising and enter their PIN code, purchase an Account or sign on. Need more range? Typically, an indoor installation provides 300’ of coverage. Our newest model WS-220 can provide up to 1000’. We can also add omni or directional antennas, additional access points and equipment to broadcast the signal anywhere you need!

All users must purchase Whotspot SurfCards, physically from you or with their credit card, online. The cards are available in many denominations – 30 Minutes, 60 Minutes, daily, weekly and monthly passes. We can supply you with Printed SurfCards or we can supply you with Pin Codes and Scratch-off labels to apply to your own cards, flyers or brochures. In addition, you can allow your customers to purchase an account, online, or allow users to surf for free, but still control their access by forcing them to sign up or enter a pin code. This way, everyone who tries to connect will always see your custom portal page.

We sell the SurfCards and online time to you at very low wholesale prices and you mark them up and sell them to your customers. Margins are always over 300%. The cost of the SurfCard reflects our cost to manage the backend servers and your accounts, technical support as well as the maintenance of the equipment you purchase from us.

 

4. The 5 Steps to Success

1. Order your Hotspot Hardware: You'll need to order the Whotspot equipment that best meets your budget and the Hotspot location. Ask us for a quote.

2. Setup your WHOTSPOT WiFi account: You'll begin by setting up an account with WHOTSPOT. We will send you an online form to complete and allow you to upload your brand logo, text and ad verbiage for your home page and choose your service pricing.

3. Install your Hotspot: Once you've got your Hotspot hardware and a broadband (DSL/Cable or T1) connection, you place the hardware in the venue. Optionally, we can arrange the installation and provide training for you and your employees. Once you've completed these initial steps, you'll be in business.

4. Start Making Money: You're ready to market to new end-users and start earning revenue. Just sell your prepaid SurfCards directly to your consumers for Cash or accept Credit Cards online - no merchant account required. Since WHOTSPOT takes care of the pin code generation, SurfCard printing, backend accounting, secure authentication, Kiosk maintenance and end-user support, all you do is sell the SurfCards at 300+% PROFIT! As your SurfCard supply decreases, just order new cards from us, online or by telephone. you'll have them within 48 hours.

5. Promote: Since WHOTSPOT is a certified member of the WiFi Zone, we will add your location to the online database of WiFi zones! This will attract new clients to your location and allow visitors to search for an industry compliant WiFi zone in your area. In addition, WHOTSPOT will provide marketing materials and assist you in developing powerful advertising campaigns.
