WHOTSPOT™ was born out of a growing need...to easily access the Internet.
An increasingly computer-enabled society is driving the demand for access to information. Nielsen NetRatings reports that 457 million people worldwide have Internet access at home. Of these, 21 million have high-speed access compared to only 11 million one year ago.

Forecasts estimated that just the mobile workforce in the United States alone exceeded 47 million employees in 2003. To stay competitive, small and medium businesses are attempting to adopt computing solutions but lack the technical and economic resources to implement an effective Internet access solution. People who will never be able to afford a PC have been introduced to the power of the Internet and e-mail through their work or their school, and once hooked, they are determined to stay connected. Whotspot provides Public Internet access services through a combination of Hardware, Software, authentication server and a local ISP. The Whotspot solution provides a secure connection to the Internet, prevents unauthorized tampering of the computer and operating system, and restores the system into a default state on each end user logout. The combination of these technologies eliminates the expense and expertise needed to custom configure an online authentication solution. WHOTSPOT has developed a Prepaid Card system consisting of Pin Codes printed on Scratch-off Whotspot SurfCards. Each code is allocated a fixed amount of online access. Control is provided by our online authentication server.

Physical access can be provided over T1, DSL or cable modems resulting in an Internet hosted terminal that offers functionality similar to an home based workstation but with higher security levels and business reporting capabilities.

Even though high speed Cable or DSL were available in many office and home environments, both planned and impromptu meetings in off-site locations made connecting to the valuable Internet resources difficult, or downright impossible.

To meet these market demands, we put our knowledge of wired and wireless technologies, billing systems, networks and servers to the task.
